Hypnosis for phobias and fears
Fears and phobias affect at least 18 million Americans, or about 9% of the population. Some estimates from the National Institute of Mental Health suggest that as much as 18% of the population suffers from phobias.
Phobias can be specific, such as the fear of flying, fear of heights, fear of germs or fear of clowns. More generalized fears include social phobias or fear of public speaking which is characterized mainly by fear of embarrassment or negative self talk. Agoraphobia (fear of being outside the home) relates to when a person fears leaving home or feels anxious about being home alone or being in a crowded room or elevator with limited ability to escape.
People with clinical phobias seek to avoid the subject of their fear. Phobias are a form of anxiety disorder, and mental health experts believe they are often caused by a combination of external triggers and internal predisposition Often, the trigger is a traumatic event that occurred when rather young. Hypnosis can uncover this event and help to find resolution for it. *If you are seeing a medical professional to treat these behaviors, hypnosis can help, but you must obtain a doctor referral.
Confront your fears with hypnosis
Phobias can affect all areas of your life, including work, school, relationships, intimacy, and health.
Through hypnosis, you can explore your early childhood experiences– events you may not even remember -- to discover why you may have adopted phobic behaviors.
The intense relaxation and sense of calm that occurs with hypnosis enables you to move past your typical learned reaction and understand the cause of your fears. In a calm neutral setting, you can explore your emotional response to the original trigger, and then over time reset the way your brain reacts.
With hypnosis, you can:
- Discover the underlying experiences that caused your phobia to begin
- Correct deep emotional responses that prevent you from having a normal comfortable life
- Break the hereditary chain – avoid handing down fears and phobias to your children
- Take control of your life -- enjoy a healthy attitude, no more planning around irrational phobic limitations
