Meditation
The practice of meditation is about paying attention. There are many techniques and practices but they all lead to the same thing. It’s taking a moment to pay attention to our breathing which then leave space to pay attention to our thoughts, our personal judgments and/or our body sensations. Many of the moments we have to live are spent in mindless chatter , either we are fretting about the future outcome, judging ourselves or we are reliving our past feelings over and over again. The practice of mediation helps us to realign ourselves to the present moment. When we pay attention to the present moment we are able to live more satisfied lives.
Best said by Jon Kabat-Zinn in his book Full Catastrophe Living, “It is not that mindfulness is the answer to all life’s problems. Rather it is that all life’s problems can be seen more clearly through the lens of a clear mind.” |
